Representative Experience to Include

Representative Projects include a teen/tween retail start-up (product sourcing through store operations) for a privately financed multi- million-dollar family entertainment center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, full business success planning and financials for a California-based Mountain Bike Apparel Company as well as concept to going-concern strategic planning and operational leadership for a Dallas-based “Eco-Green Friendly” internet/retail start-up. Additional projects include the formation of an independent music label for a Phoenix based musician and new product development & launch support for a Hong Kong based company.

AT&T Mobility

Led & implemented engagements to develop and execute an operational plan that allowed AT@T Mobility to transfer 107 agent owned stores to company owned brand and determine appropriate disposition based on profitability, geography and competitive landscape. Specific duties included store by store entry/exit strategy, human capital assessment and consolidation, order fulfillment, inventory supply chain management, services capabilities, IT infrastructure, back-end financial reporting, store FF&E and extensive communications planning. Additional projects included the creation and implementation of a Diversity Program and defining an operational plan for transition activities required to transfer ownership for a select set of stores in a market with no prior existing resources or real estate.

Toys R Us

Led several engagements to support roll-out teams and assist in major Back of House initiative to ensure process implementation is consistent and support Store Operation process improvements to drive $25 million in annual benefits at Toys R Us; one of the largest Toy Retailers in the world. Specific duties included project management of company partnered resources, extensive training and mentoring responsibilities as well as operational assessment documentation to aid C-level management in successfully achieving stated project goals.

J. Crew

Implemented a plan to develop Forecasting, Allocation & Replenishment business and system requirements for J Crew; a Fortune 100 Fashion Retailer. Specific duties included development of process flow and implementation roadmap that would replace previously identified business processes and ultimately return substantial savings to the bottom line and lift sales by over $10 million annually.

Between $1 and Five

Directed and oversaw all aspects of the stores Retail Operations as well as directing and supporting Merchandise Allocations, Inventory Control and Distribution for a unique venture financed start-up mall-based, extreme value retailer that offered novelty, toy and gift merchandise, “throw-away” fashion and accessories specifically targeted to Tweens and Teens ages 7-17 and their parents.

Ensured the achievement of store sales plans, customer service, staffing, visual presentation and controllable expenses while directing the development of a top-notch third-party distribution center, analyzing and maintaining optimal inventory levels and guaranteeing the operational accuracy of merchandise on-hand quantities in support of buying, store operations and allocations to maximize gross profit collectively. Member of Operating Committee and directly reported to the Chief Executive Officer.

Pier 1 Kids

Responsible for overseeing and directing the establishment and maintenance of optimum store level inventories for both new and existing stores for Pier 1 Kids; a retailer of children's furniture and accessories whose products were sold through 45 company-owned retail stores, contract sales, and a toll-free ordering division. Created, implemented and oversee all allocations processes designed to enhance sales opportunities, decrease markdowns, and balance inventory equitably throughout the chain. Responsible for growth of 30 new and remodel stores, approximately $3 million of inventory at cost, all merchandise departments and nearly $30 million in new store sales support. Existing store responsibilities included over $2.5 million of inventory at cost, all merchandise departments and nearly $20 million in existing store sales support.

Pier 1 Imports

  • Responsible for 40 new and remodel stores, approximately $10 million of inventory at cost, all merchandise departments and nearly $60 million in sales support. Led a team in reviewing store sales trends, inventory positions and merchandise plans/forecasts, combined with analysis performed via several report vehicles to better plan store allocations for Pier 1 Imports, once North America’s largest specialty retailer of unique fashion-forward, decorative home furnishings, gifts and related items directly imported from over 50 countries around the world – displayed in over 1000 Pier 1 Imports stores in a visually appealing setting. The Company had international operations in Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom. Made changes where necessary utilizing allocations tools and communicated changes/analysis to Zone, Regional, Store and Department teams. Maintained daily contact with stores, DC and corporate staff regarding clarification of merchandise availability, special orders and allocations issues. Attended meetings with Buyers, Assistant Buyers, Drop Ship, Furniture and Shelf Allocations Specialists to understand and translate merchandise direction as it pertains to special store situations. Also responsible for an average of 250 stores, $164 million of inventory at cost, all merchandise departments and $1.3 billion in existing store sales support.
